MLB The Show 24 Storylines (Game Pass/PC): Hank Aaron Negro Leagues and Captain Derek Jeter at bats
Surprisingly, this felt more intuitive than last year. no idea why Playstation develops this but is on game pass yet not ps plus (better than AEW Fight Forever on ps plus, barraging you with tutorials and very limited create a wrestler).
I do prefer Derek Jeter's storyline mode to the Negro Leagues though no idea why like last year, you can't simply play an exhibition mode to see how Jeter would go against them (Super Mega Baseball 4 has retired teams in exhibition mode if you dig for them though they got fake names, though the booming sound effects are great). There is a mode for everyone, and the retro mode was a nice surprise too. I don't feel I had to dig through menus as much as 23 made me do.
They do push woke progressiveness a lot so I would skip it, but the at bats are fun though I wish you could choose the presentation after hitting the ball, rather than follow the batter.
I don't know why they said they're unsung heroes in this edition if it was already done last year, though they did combine their stats given hall of famers went from Negro Leagues to MLB.
Let alone Toni Stone with the women angle if they aren't talented enough modern day, let alone analysts can't criticize them similar to Caitlin Clark plummeting in WNBA with denials of hard fouls targeting her.
There is just a mania about her that you don't see with women's softball that I prefer (relaxing and pretty, and more happiness like with track and field) if I'm not watching retired umpire Angel Hernandez goof again (for quality I'd just watch world baseball classic where someone defected from Cuba which was crazy, or every at bat in a shorter slump than MLB can actually bring in a homerun).
There was also a Toni Harris woman in football that they hyped up but similarly got to quietly disappear in Division 3, so be careful of what media pundits/athletes dance around or try to blame you for not watching (Monica McNutt), let alone gymnastics is swept under the rug as it is more marketable for women to do it (like a polite strip tease though some easily offended people criticize the aerodynamic tight outfits). There was a lot of racism in feminism (and LGBT coupling/rainbow flag lip service) as well.
Nice that Josh Gibson is playable being the GOAT once the stats got to be compared apples to apples. Willie Mays is in his 90's, and got to see it all, which is nice.
His say hey documentary showed him as a field general with the authority to bench people, which contradicts or has your mileage may vary (usually a left taboo to mention, like learning about non-white or indigenous slaveowners in US) with the constant suffering Jackie Robinson went through.
I am glad that baseball video games are accessible due to game pass (played this on my lenovo legion go which included for 3 months, though this was on cloud which looked good) and not an annual $70/year bs, nor plagued with bugs unlike Madden.
Do hope college football 25 is worth the money as that was another legal battle that everyone else got paid except the athletes (thanks Ed O'Bannon for winning, and usually black athletes).
