MMW Challenge: MvC R. Mika and Zangief [by Mr. Infinite]
Another response video done for Mugenlord's 'Most Wanted Mugen' challenge series. This one involves two specific opponents this time. For the original challenge info, you can check the video this one is posted as a response to. I will go over the challenge here though, along with info on the opponents and the characters I'm using.
Challenge: Defeat the Rainbow Cyclone Team [R. Mika by Warusaki3, patched for MvC-styled gameplay, and Zangief by Mr. Infinite].
Fight Restrictions:
- The fight must be done in either Simul or Turns mode.
- Time must be activated for the match.
- Difficulty must be set to either Medium or Hard mode standards.
The opponents:
R. Mika by Warusaki3 (patched for MvC-styled gameplay)
Overview -
Let me state right now that I have never really been a fan of MvC-patches for pre-existing characters. For whatever reason, they tend to turn out either very glitchy, or they just don't feel right on many levels (for a prime example of this, there was a massive MvC-patch release a long while back for a bunch of different characters - all made by one community, I think. The results were terrifying).
For this one though, it seems somewhat decent - if with a few issues. In any case, R. Mika still isn't that challenging of an opponent, even with this MvC-patch of sorts. She spends most of her time just sitting around and charging up her power-bar (something MvC characters shouldn't really be able to do), and will occasionally attack you with various moves. Either that, or she'll stand there and take hits and/or block them (or at times, parry them - which is also left-over bits from the CvS gameplay aspects). So despite some minor flaws with the patch, this isn't too bad of a conversion, really. It just needs a bit of work. As for the AI, it's practically non-existant.
Difficulty Rank: Z -
Weakness: Just bum-rush her with any sort of move you want. Chances are she'll be sitting around charging up and leaving herself open for hits, or she'll just stand around and take the hits anyways.
Zangief by Mr. Infinite
Overview -
Here's where the difficulty ranks up quite a bit. I have to agree with zak on this one. This Zangief does remind me quite a bit of P.O.T.S. different conversions, what with the CvS sprites and somewhat mixed-moves/modes and all. He does provide much more of a challenge than R. Mika, as he actually has some pretty decent AI. He can counter some moves with grappling styled attacks, which have a rather decent damage output on them as well. Overall though he's not too hard to take down...unless he decides to go into his Mech mode. That's when things start to get bad. While in this mode he gets a few new moves, some instances of hyper-armor, and is generally much more relentless than in his normal mode.
Difficulty Rank: B when in normal mode. A - when in Mech mode.
Weakness: He tends to rush in at you at some points when far away. This is a great chance to land a form of counter hit on him, as he almost always never blocks during this sudden rush at you. He also leaves himself wide open after executing various moves, in particular his wall leaping move where he tries to land on you. While in his Mech Form, the weaknesses still apply, though you'll have less opportunities to counter him. Just keep your distance and watch his movements carefully so you can react in time.
As for the characters I'm using for this match, I decided on both one I've used many times before in some of my older videos, along with a new one as well. The first being Yoko by Warusaki3. I don't think she needs much of an introduction at this point, however the little friend that's fighting alongside her does.
Meet Kobun-43 by Ahuron. He's essentially what you get if you fuse Servebot with Sentinel. As you can imagine, complete insanity ensues afterwards with this concept. It always seems Ahuron is really good at making these various joke-characters, and I'd seriously recommend checking out his other ones along with Kobun here.
Also, in terms of updates on my other projects right now:
A new update of Ao Oni Plus will be released sometime later this week, along with something extra to go with it.
