If you're familiar with Maximum Velocity's music, this might not have been the tune you were expecting based on the title, but as it turns out, the track that most people have long assumed to be Silence was actually used for a beta course called "The Ancient Aqua" in an early build of the game as confirmed by an old Spaceworld video where it was shown off in demo form alongside Mario Kart: Super Circuit. The Ancient Aqua ultimately became Cloud Carpet: Icarus Circuit in the final game, so its original music went unused as it was just the second Cloud Carpet course instead of its own separate one.

You may still be wondering why I named this one Silence and to be completely fair, there is no guarantee that this is in fact the music for Silence, but MV has 4 unused music tracks in its data, 3 of them are seemingly from the aforementioned beta build and those 3 are the first ones in the files ("song001", 002, and 003, which are the original title theme, result theme, and The Ancient Aqua respectively, the next 37 sound files are just SFX), while this one is much farther down at "song043", which happens to be right next to all the other course themes in the final game, specifically starting at "song040", it goes final title theme, then results theme at 041, game over at 042, then this at 043, and then other course themes, Empyrean Colony at 044, Tenth Zone East at 045, Bianca City at 046, etc.

Could "song043" have been used for something else besides Silence? Maybe, though considering Silence is the only course in the game with no music track (Silence can only be accessed in single pak multiplayer and the GBA doesn't have enough memory for music there anyway), song043 is located where it is in the files, it notably loops at exactly 1 minute (shortest loop out of all the course themes I think, maybe a failed attempt to fix that memory issue?), and that it's really the only actual unused track since the other 3 were from the beta, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that it was likely intended for Silence before ultimately being scrapped due to technical problems for systems not using a cartridge and since Silence is only accessible that way, there wouldn't be any point in coding the music track to play in single player since you can't play Silence solo without modifying the game in some way (like I did for the gameplay in the background of this video).

Again, I realize that the Silence music is commonly believed to be "song003", but that's not the case and while there is no way to be certain that "song043" is the real Silence theme, all signs seem to indicate that it probably is, so I just went ahead and called it Silence and there ya go. Sorry, to disappoint those expecting The Ancient Aqua, maybe I'll do that one some other time, but for now, I wanted to do this one.
