Gameplay
You need to conquer a large part of the starting area in the level you start at. As long as you are in your own area, you will be safe from enemies until your shield runs out. You conquer new areas by drawing outside your own area. Drawing, however, disables your shield and exposes you to danger. Your shield constantly decreases. If you don't conquer areas at a certain frequency, your shield will run out and you won't be safe even in already conquered areas.
There are 3 difficulties in the game. Difficulty affects enemies, your shield, and the percentage of conquered areas required for victory.
