In the midst of this isolating pandemic, I have decided to create an indefinite playthrough series for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

This feels something of a homecoming: Monster Hunter Tri (the earlier iteration of Ultimate) was my first Monster Hunter game, and it is a delight to see the familiar sights and sounds that engrossed me into the universe at large. I love this series so much because it has such a distinctive look and feel, and it captures the sense of a boss fight better than nearly anything else. If anything Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate encapsulates this to near perfection, and it is one of the few standout Wii U titles with native 1920x1080 support, besides making original use for the Wii U Gamepad. If you want to, it is possible to have nearly every aspect of your heads-up display on the Gamepad, as well as providing useful shortcuts for actions and prompts, that streamline the mechanics of Monster Hunter without dumbing them down.

While the intention is to gradually complete the story and village quests that encompass Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate’s single player experience, I am open to the idea of eventually completing the Guild quests and progressing further into G-Rank if such the opportunity presents itself. I also cannot decide whether to complete these Guild quests on my own in or the company of friends/online randoms. I am however not wanting to take any shortcuts with weapons, armour and item gathering, preferring to farm for materials at the appropriate levels, as the game would expect of me.

Please do not be upset if I am constantly repeating the same quests ad-nauseum as, once again, this will be done on the basis of gathering materials (especially during monster hunts). Likewise, I may veer-off the completion of some quests if I find myself more preoccupied by gathering materials or likewise different distractions that dart up in the numerous locales featured in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

Well, let’s get to it.
