There is more that connects us than divides us, but the differences don't have to be bad. I've met many people over the years. People with some similarities to me, people with some differences to me, people with both.
I've made friends from all walks of life. Various races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, religions, ages, passions, hobbies, philosophies, you name it. I've been lucky enough to say I've taught people from all walks of life too.
It's been a wild ride. I've learned a lot from those similar to me in one way or another and those different from me in one way or another. I've been lucky in that regard.
People are nuanced. There are various aspects to our cultural identities. We're complex beings. Again, there's more that connects us than divides us. I've been lucky enough to see that repeatedly.
I'm glad to say my life and experiences is proof of that. I don't have to reach far for inspiration when I get bummed that people are getting ostracized from their differences. I know that it doesn't have to be that way.
