With symbolic links you can integrate external drives into your handheld computer. That is especially useful, if you have a Steam Deck, or an Asus Rog Ally, which only have a small 2230 SSD and rely on external SD cards.

With a program called 'Link Shell Extension' you can integrate the content of you external drives into your main system.
This supports hotplugging.
