The Retribution Alive road trip ends up back at the 12 Bar in Holloway Road this month, the scene of the biggest and best Retribution Alive so far in October! This month we have industrial metallers Die Kur topping the bill for the second Janaury in a row in what has become a traditional January London date! We are also very lucky to be joined by special guests My Silent Wake. On top of all this it's Linz Griffin's Birthday Bash so expect one or two shandies to be spilt in the name of his 75th year...! The Retribution club night keeps the neighbours awake until 2am as usual!

So far the diverse metalisation of Retribution Alive has breached the walls of such venues as the Intrepid Fox, Purple Turtle, 12 Bar, Fiddlers Elbow, Upstairs @ The Garage, Plough & Harper, The Dev and most recently the Wig and Gown! Get along to January's edition at the 12 Bar!

Bands playing 7.00pm-11.00pm:

DIE KUR

Die Kur is a band of industrial metal from London. Formed in 1999 the band has released four official albums and shared a stage with the likes of Die Krupps, Cold In Berlin, Beholder, The Young Gods and Meta-Stasis.

"...Die Kur pair up aggressive guitar riffs with electronic pulsations to create a truly oppressive atmosphere. Dark Stuff." - Terrorizer Magazine

"...Dense and challenging industrial rock, equal parts abrasive and melodic" - Robert Eaton, Grave Concerns Magazine

"...Die Kur have undoubtedly provided the world with a sound of their own" - metalreviews.com

"If the opportunity arose, I would not hesitate to catch them live!" - Neil Mackenbach, live4metal.com

MY SILENT WAKE (Special Guests)

Formed in 2005. Released 8 albums including a split with The Drowning and a split with Pylon. Once toured Europe with In Vain.

Influences include Dead Can Dance, Leonard Cohen, The Drowning, Pantheist, Attrition, Esoteric, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Katatonia, Type O Negative, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin.

"This is death-doom out of the top drawer – fantastic riffs and great melodies put together by people who know exactly how to get the best results out of a strong composition. You can’t beat experience, and My Silent Wake have been doing this for a decade. - 9/10" - Doom Metal Heaven

"Clearly, My Silent Wake is not the first band to come up with this sound and one can clearly hear influences of bands like the early versions of Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride. Despite the similarity, the band has a way of owning the sound by making use of gothic beauty and playful tempos. ‘Highwire’ is a good example where it starts off with a groovy bass line that builds up into a mid tempo groove thrash rhythm. - 85%" - Metal Gallows

MØRKTÅR

UK Black Metal band, Mørktår return to the stage to present not only a brand new lineup but also brand new tracks from their anticipated upcoming 2nd album, entitled 'Khultum Kold.' It is also during this year that the band will be celebrating 10 years of darkness and misanthropy since formed by Thrym in 2006.

"It's black metal at its most violent. It's bleak, raw and misanthropic... and, yet, still addictive." - louciferspeaks.com

"...with sick compositions crafted in the spirit of the early 90s black metal." - metal-rules.com
