Playthrough with Scorpion, using the version included on Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection.

As most people know, this game is basically impossible to beat without exploiting A.I. flaws. The first 3 or so opponents can be beaten normally, but after that you won't get anywhere as the CPU will cheat and read your inputs, and will react way before a human player ever would. This game really kickstarted the "let's make our fighting games way too difficult" craze that would be followed by games like Art of Fighting 2, Virtua Fighter 2 and the American version of Super SFII Turbo.

Anyway, back to MKII. To beat this with Scorpion, you want to abuse the hell out of his air throw. To do this you need to get your opponent to jump at you, which is achieved by crouching and then leaping back as your opponent gets close. If timed right, as you land, your opponent will jump towards you, so you need to jump towards them and press the block button to do the throw. Repeating this will let you win.

This does not work against either of the bosses. Kintaro is really tough. For some reason Scorpion's jump kicks work really well against him, if timed correctly Kintaro will always try and uppercut you but it'll fail and he'll get knocked down. Don't try this in the corner though as he usually blocks the jump kick when he's trapped, and then throw you.

Shao Kahn is a joke. Just stand in place and kick him when he gets close. As long as you don't leave it too late, Shao Kahn will either block the kick, or get hit by it, and then walk towards you again. Repeat this over and over until he's finished.
