Coming down the wire. Guess who decides to drop by. Here’s Johnny! Johnny Cage!
Johnny Cage is an all around character that’s easy to play and use. He has good combo strings and can connect some to his specials. The specials are straight forward as they were in every other MK game such as the shadow kick, energy orbs, flip kick, uppercut and the traditional punch to the nards.
Johnny’s variations add some more flavors to his A-game. A-List allows certain moves and combos to get a power boost. You simply need to hold a specific button to charge it and then release to deliver a powered up attack. It’s similar to Street Fighter X Tekken’s move mechanics. Stunt Double removes Johnny’s Flip Kick but gains the ability to store shadow mimics. He can hold up to two and they can be used to perform specials giving Johnny plenty of opportunities. That and his projectile go straight rather than an arc. Fisticuffs turn Johnny into a rushdown fighter. He can power up his punch attacks and do increased chip damage. Oh and if his health is low and in danger, all of Johnny’s special moves become red and gain a damage increase.
Overall, Johnny Cage is a character that has a lot of potential, and in the right hands, he can deliver the goods. His Fatalities are deadly with one being a tribute to a classic film, The Shining starring Jack Nicholson. I recommend you check it out because it’s great.
