On this installment, I pick up where I left off in part 2 and apply some real numbers to our overtone/harmonic sequence. Then we use a simple idea - that octaves are always a 2:1 or doubling of a lower frequency - to construct a single octave "scale" of related pitches. Try comparing what the series generated with modern "equal temperament" tuning!

Today's thumbnail features Jacobus Obrecht, a Dutch composer from the Renaissance period known for his dense polyphony and control of harmony in his many beautiful masses. He's one of my favorites!
