In this guide I take you through building a base on the moon instead of the red planet. Building on the moon is a bit different. There is no atmosphere at all to start and there is no water or ore on the map. You need to mine regolith and crush it into ore. You also use regolith as a source of water in use with Helium 3. Helium 3 can only be mined on a moonbase. It is used to fuel the Alien Power Tower which comes near the end of the game.
