Namco Museum Archives new games impressions

And in the final installment, I take a look back at the Namco Museum Archive sets that I went through last year. Why? Last year I only tackled titles that had been released when the system was active. Each set, however, contained one game that was a new port of a game that had not been on NES before.
The first one, Pac-man Champion Edition, was a game released a few generations ago. And this NES port is amazing, bringing all kinds of things to it, like achievements, and keeping a ranking of your scores. I love it. I'm not the biggest Pac-man fan, personally, but Champion Edition was a fresh take on the game. And to see it ported this faithfully on NES was a great flex by Namco. ...Or so I thought. Apparently, it dates back to a fan ROM hack from 2008, done by "Coke774". Namco claims they did work with him to bring the game fully up into this set, which is different from the original hack. So that's major props to Namco for working WITH fans instead of shutting them down.
Second, we have Gaplus. Now this one I didn't know much about, but it's an old arcade game that was basically Galaxian 3 (Galaga being Galaxian 2). It had been ported to home systems several times, usually in an emulated arcade version. This was the first time they ported it to the NES. Proving that they are just as capable now of bring the arcade home to the NES as they were back then. A nice touch, and a great inclusion.
