Name Change #shorts
The long awaited name change. It only took me four years after saying I would. Sentimentality is a real hitch if you don't check it.
But alas, as seasons change, so should we along with it. The time to put a z instead of an s because it sounds cool has passed. The time of let's plays and substance-less reaction videos has too. The time of a solely Minecraft-based YouTube channel is but a figment of our past, and the time where one could manifest and then post cringe content without weight on their conscience is relegated to the weathered pages and papyrus scrolls of Alphabet Incorporated's undersea vault.
As the autumn reds take over the azure sky in our fast changing landscape, may we persist as our predecessors have, and their predecessors before them. The then New York delegate Alexander Hamilton once wrote that we must "at last break the fatal charm which has too long seduced us from the paths of felicity and prosperity." He continues that "Each state yielding to the persuasive voice of immediate interest or convenience, has successively withdrawn its support, till the frail and tottering edifice seems ready to fall upon our heads, and to crush us beneath its ruins."
I am of the conviction that no decision in my YouTube tenure has been as difficult and caused as much discomfiture as this, but as Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the Untied States, once said, "it had to be done." Change comes for us all and we must be prepared to as well, lest the universe move on without our ephemeral places that we have made in it. Like the Veil in Heaven Sent, it will not rest when we do. The continuation of man depends on our adaptations, so we should not leave it hanging. We should not give in to the immediate benefit of retaining the name this channel has held for the past six years, but we should instead look to the promise of the future. The frail and tottering edifice will not crush us in its wake.
At least, not today.
