Nardio NOT GOING to Anime NYC 2022
5This is NOT going to be a hate post nor do I want ANYONE directing hate to Anime NYC. This is going over our reasons for NOT attending Anime NYC 2022.
Below you will see the message we sent the staff of Anime NYC upon learning of the vax passport and forced mask mandates:
"Howdy!
Bernardo Espanol here from Nardio.net. Recently you were kind enough to once again accept us as press for Anime NYC 2022. Thank you very much for that. We really appreciate it and we are glad that Anime NYC is still going strong.
Unfortunately, will not be able to attend the event this year. When we applied as press you did not yet announce the your mask or vax passport stance. We just happened upon your instagram post announcing it and it just doesn’t work for us. Both are dealbreakers. The forced mask option doesn’t work with the content we put out. Interviews and photos are best done when maskless. Considering that is 99% why we would be there, it’s a dealbreaker.
The vax passport just doesn’t make sense to us considering every other venue in the city doesn’t do this at all. As someone who never believed in it and never supported it, I cannot in good conscious go along with any organization that supports and implements it. Especially when it’s no longer official mandated policy.
All that said, we wish you the very best with the upcoming event and beyond. We look forward to the wonderful con weekend where we will be able to rejoin your community in person and share their many wonderful creations and stories. Have a wonderful day!

As you can see we were totally respectful. At the end of the day this is their event and they can run it as they see fit. I wish them the very best and hope it turns out well and EVERYONE has an amazing time.
