The manga was first published by Shueisha in 1999 in the 43rd issue of Japan's Shōnen Jump magazine.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is the sequel to Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and Nintendo Switch.
An enhanced re-release was bundled in Naruto Shippūden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy/Legacyfor PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. The game was once again rereleased for the Nintendo Switch in 2018.

The story of Naruto Shippūden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 begins from the very first Naruto: Shippūdenepisode (even containing the preview of the future Naruto vs. Sasuke clash, although the preview is of Pain destroying Konohagakure) to the end of Pain's Assault, a content of 3 years of anime broadcasting.
