NASA 'Worm' Logo Standards 1976 ~ Part 1 of 5 ~ The Logotype
With the collaboration between NASA and SpaceX we are entering into a whole new era in the commercializing of space. An era I’m really excited about. This era is being welcomed in with a return NASA’s old ‘worm’ logo from the 1970’s that was then stopped use in 1992.
This NASA logo is a great logo and I stumbled across the Standards Manual from 1976. This is such a treasure. It is full of really interesting snippets of information and really gives a glimpse into the changing technology of print and design - nearly 20 years before the digital era. So this is a very important historical document.
My ‘day job’ is as a Graphic Designer and I’ve worked in Advertising Agencies as an Art Director and as a Creative Director. So while going through this great document I add my own commentary about how styles and technology have changed. I had such a wonderful time recording this series because this is something I’m extremely passionate about. I hope you get as much pleasure from watching this as well.
