I think the original has been nerfed (st.HK/b.MK) as I couldn't land it with any character, but step kick after HK.Sonic Scythe works fine.

I've set all the dummies to mash on wake up to so looks like some of
this could apply in a real match. Blocking after the step kick stops the setup but could be a viable option for those you catch quick rising and mashing on wake up.
