NBA Live 2018 may be a flop yet again, but it isn't all bad. The most important thing in any basketball game is the gameplay, the feel. Live is held back by animation issues, which impact the feel even on the first possession. Meaning, most people are turned off almost immediately.

The lack of roster editing (Which we have been asking about for years), no multi user dynasty, and no retro also hurt the games sales. As of now, most people don't have a reason to switch.

I really want Live to compete, we need more competition in the basketball video game genre. However, I don't think this is the year...
