One Step Ahead is a Hot Pursuit event featured in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010) and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, and it is a racer career event.
In Hot Pursuit (2010), the event is only available with the Super Sports Pack. In Hot Pursuit Remastered, the event is unlocked by beating Breaking Point. It can be accessed from the Coral Bay racer node on the career map, and is a Hyper Series event.
The event starts heading west on Grand Ocean Road. The racers make their way along the coast towards the lighthouse, after which they continue on Sunset Drive and then Mission Beach. After crossing the motorway, they continue on Hope Road. At the end of this road, the racers make two right-hand turns and continue west down Hope Canyon Freeway. The route continues down the entirety of this motorway and then leads onto the South Bay Turnpike for the last, short segment of the race. The finish line is located near the start of this motorway.
