Need for Speed NEW UPDATE! New Cars! Steering Wheel Support Chat Wheel and More
Alright, according to Max Myrus the Need for speed community manager this update is scheduled for Jan 28th which is next week. It will include steering wheel support for a variety of steering wheels which I have listed for you on screen. Additionally, they are adding a chat wheel that allows you to send pre-made messages to crew members and rivals in the game session. For example if you’d like someone to follow you you will be able to select a message that say just that. You will also be able to challenge other players to races, compliment their driving skills or just send a simple greeting. They have not revealed the exact way that the chat wheel functions but I presume it will be linked to your d-pad.
Another feature they are rolling out is called Keys to the Map. This feature allows players to instantly unveil the locations on the in-game map including collectibles, activities and gas stations. It doesn’t complete the activities or gather the collectibles for you but it does show their position on the map. It will also grant you access to all the safe houses with the exception of one without having to complete the main story. The one exception will need to be unlocked through story progression. The unfortunate thing about this is you will need to purchase these keys with real money. For anyone who has been playing the game religiously since launch like myself, this feature is completely useless but I guess I can see some value in it for players who do not wish to complete the main story and just want to race and look for collectibles.
This update will also feature a few quality of life improvements. Driving through a gas station will now clean the paint damage and remove scratches. This obviously wasn’t a huge problem but I hate that every time I start a race my car is so beat up and ugly. Literally every loading screen unless Im coming straight out of the garage I like to admire my car and it always looks like dog crap….so im glad they’ve made this change. Now I’ll be looking as fresh as an ice cold Barqs.
This next one is for all you manual shifters. Im not cool enough to be in that club but for those of you who are, you probably noticed that it’s quite easy to accidentally enter the garage after exiting it or start an event that you never intended to race because of the input overlap. So to fix this they are changing the perform and action button so that it now needs to be held down instead of just tapped.
But now for the exciting news…this is not the only update planned for game. The update following this one will be more content focused. They’ve confirmed that we will be getting more cars! The reason this gets me excited is because that means we might see more events, more map locations maybe even more story content. Either way, this game is too fun and Im looking forward to see what they’re adding!
There will be more information about the Jan 28th update upon its release so stay tuned, i’ll most likely have another video explaining the finer details once its released.
