There are 5 Derelict Cars in Need for Speed Payback. Each one has 5 Car Part Locations. You can then repair the Derelict, upgrade and drive it like any other car. The 5 Derelict Cars are:

- Ford Mustang 1965 (After boss "La Catrina")
- Nissan Fairlady 240ZG (After boss “Udo Roth”)
- Volkswagen Beetle 1963 (After boss “The Underground Soldier”)
- Chevrolet C10 Stepside Pickup 1965 (After boss “Big Sister”)
- Chevrolet Bel Air 1955 (After beating first "Runner" quest line)

Each Derelict Car requires you to have beaten a different league boss (see above). Upon beating one of them you receive a new clue for the Derelict Part Locations of a certain car. Each car requires you to find 5 Derelict Parts total. In the map menu you can click the tab "Derelict" to see some puzzle clues. It shows a drawing with outlines of the streets where the Derelict Part is located. So normally you'd have to look at the in-game map and compare it with the drawing. This guide shows you all the locations of course.

What makes Derelict Cars so special is that they can be upgraded to the maximum level without the level caps normal cars have. After upgrading a Derelict Car to Performance Level 300 it unlocks a Super-Build for more extreme visual customization. Upon restoring a Derelict Car you can also choose what category you want it to be (Race, Drag, Drift, Runner, Offroad). It's recommended you pick a different category for each unique car.

None of the Derelict Car Parts are missable. Just know that they won't spawn until you've beaten the corresponding league boss.

Assembling one Derelict Car unlocks the trophy / achievement "One Man's Trash" and upgrading it to Performance Level 399 unlocks "Another Man's Treasure".
