59So, about the M5: I don't think I drove it to its fullest potential the last time I tested it. Let's fix that.

Handling: I still maintain the idea that other than the M3 E30 Sport Evo, the M5 is the fastest modern gen BMW in the game, despite it being much heavier than the M4 GTS. It's all-wheel drive system is its source of success here. It limits the angle of drift in corners, but the trade-off is much faster drift speed. However, in terms of speed recovery, the Evo 9's is slightly better than the M5s.
Note: I think the main problem with the M5 in terms of this game is its gearing ratio. In the real world, the car has 8 gears, but in the game, it's stuck at 7, plus the car shifts like a standard manual gearbox, not a sequential like the Evo 9. Moreover, there's the 6th and 7th gears: they're weird. There's very little power in Gear 7 of the car. Gear 6 has a good amount of power, but more so on the high end. On the low end at reasonable speeds, there's nothing. These issues come into light when racing at Hyperspace Circuit. Usually, with 7-gear cars, I shift down to gear 6 at the last banked turn as it's the optimal gear to regain any speed lost from a wide drift. In this, it's confusing because of the little-to-no power in Gears 6 & 7, so I shift down to gear 5. However, there's still not as much recovery speed at that gear than at gear 6 in the Evo 9.
Conclusion: Despite these issues, it's ferocious speed, normal acceleration, and AWD grip help the M5 take back its crown as the best 4-door Saloon car in NFS Payback.
