http://www.netbooknews.com G: Into the Rain is a puzzle game that on first glance looks like a shootem' up game. Its a game about reconnaissance, thought not hunting down space aliens your goal is to ping sensors. Your job is to fire one or more rockets and 'ping' a sensor to help locate resources in a fog that emerged over earth called The Rain. You move on by pinging all the seonsors and achieve a higher score by using less rockets. 'G' seems to stand for Gravity. Gravity plays a huge role in this game.
When you launch a rocket first you set the angle, launch impulse and burn duration. Launch impulse affects how much fuel you use to launch the rocket and in turn the speed. The burn duration duration affects how long it burns and will also affect the speed and tragectory. You are also given trim thrusters with a limited amount of fuel to help guide your rocket towards the target. The physics are mostly Newtonian, so it doesn't take much force to keep moving in one direction and inertia strongly resists changes from thrusters.
Once the rocket is on route it is affected by gravity wells which can occur in different strengths. These can either help you and get in your way, but that's all part of the fun. In later stages you get multi-stage rockets to get the job done. To hit all the targets you'll need to set up three separate launch impulse and durations, once for each stage of the rocket. You can imagine how difficult it gets when you have to make adjustments mid flight. Luckily you don't need to hit all of the targets with one rocket!!
Overall the game is a steal at $0.99, you have 50 levels and if you are the competitive type you can get quite a bit of game play trying to get a high score. G: Into the Rain is available through iPhone and http://www.AppUp.com
