Here is a rare audio demo of the original Network Sound Effects Library from Universal Studios, originally released in 1983. In addition to being on compact disc, it was also offered on vinyl record, but they weren't like normal records of the time. These were "Whisper Discs", as Network Music called them. They were a special kind of record that was a bit thicker (180-gram vinyl, maybe?), and had almost no surface noise and very clear sound quality (very much like today's records).

The record version of the demo is different from the CD version (the one that had Burgess Meredith and Lorenzo Music.) This instead stars Alan Barzman and Pat McCormick, where they play out an "interview" with the oldest sound effect artist in the world, whom dates back to the prehistoric days and his unusual ways to create certain sounds!

I have worked with this sound library at my high school and college. The record version (same as the original 40-CD set) pretty much mostly duplicated the effects from the Sound Ideas Series 1000 Sound Effect Library. It's kind of ironic how this library is billed as being new and modern-sounding, when on the CD version, discs 61 to 110 had a lot of vintage sound effects (from "the olden days," as the demo would call it) with some in low quality.
