Neurometry - Emissary of the Red Eclipse MIDI Album
After about 3 months of on-and-off development I finally finished the concept album I was working on!! Emissary of the Red Eclipse was my attempt at a full-on MIDI metal album which shifted into an entire other direction, one that I am still very proud of. I could not be happier with how this album turned out, so let's go song by song with a bit of commentary and notes from me.
0:00 From the Depths of a Slumbering Abyss: The opener to the album was the very first thing I made while in a Discord voice chat with friends. Very nice and sets the tone for the album just right.
1:35 Sixty Days Apart: The first real song for the album was among the last I made for it. I wanted to make something power metal a la Stratovarius or Iron Savior and I think it turned out okay.
5:46 Under the Concealment of Dusk: Much like Crescence off of the Nascence EP, I wanted to make a song primarily using the bass and this time I got much closer to my goal.
9:24 Static: The first song on this album I'm proud of. I wouldn't change a thing about it and I'm extremely happy with the final product. A bit of MIDI sound glitchiness ruins a few notes I think but oh well.
12:42 To the Final Bullet: This was the final song I made for the album. I wanted something short, fast-paced, and simple, and made exactly that in about an hour.
14:47 Into the Depths of a Burgeoning Abyss: The intermission song was originally going to be a violin solo but I didn't like the sound of the violin by itself so I chose to make it a full thing instead. Sets the direction for the second half of the album.
16:42 Frenzy: This song is a first draft and that's all it needed in my opinion. Something fast-paced, punchy, borrows a bit from Radiance off of the Nascence EP but focuses more on the metal.
20:57 Dawn of Day: Something upbeat for the second half of the album. I wanted to blend the styles of Motorhead and Black Sabbath into one song and this was the result.
24:37 The Eternal Tomb: I made this song in 45 minutes and could not be happier with how it ended up. It was made by accident, with me accidentally looping the first 2 seconds and going from there.
28:47 The Emissary: This was the second song I made for the album, and was originally combined with From the Depths of a Slumbering Abyss to make one long super song, but decided to cut them into two, also made in the same voice chat so this took about an hour to an hour and a half to make start to finish. I feel very special about this song, at the time it was the most epic song I had ever made, and even now I still adore every moment of this song. But the scale of this does not even compare to...
35:41 Galactic Demigod: As soon as I muttered the name of this to myself at work one day I knew I needed to make a finale with this name. Galactic Demigod is a medley of my favorite tracks on this album, and I could not possibly be happier with the way the second half of the song turned out. The big bad final boss of the JRPG.
42:38 The Fall of the Final Abyss: Nothing lasts forever, and this short song marks the album's closing. Thank you very much for listening to my humble little passion project and I'd love to hear any thoughts, opinions, etc. you may have!!
