NEVER AGAIN. - Sigma Interface (Extreme Demon) by Platnuu - Geometry Dash
156i’m not kidding when i say this is the single hardest thing i have done in any game, and its not even close.
words cannot describe how insane this feels. i once only dreamed of beating this; i saw this when it came out during the pandemic, i knew i wanted to do it eventually, but at the time it was so far out of my skill range that i couldn’t even imagine doing it - fast forward to july 2024 and here we are.
unfortunately i beat this at 11:30pm so i couldn't give a better reaction lmao
but, in all honesty - this was one of the single most miserable playing experiences i have had with any hard level, period. before you say anything, the learning experience and doing runs was genuinely a lot of fun for me, but going from 0 was so, so mentally draining.
the first third, whilst not fantastic at first, got more consistent as time went on. 32% to 56% however was the single most inconsistent and bullshit section in any level i have touched. its littered with some horrible choke points, namely 37%, 42% and 47%, and don't even get me started on the transitions.. the drop was very tedious at times too, the 65% ship being one of the worst choke points in the second half.
the single defining moment of my experience with this level however was a genuinely catastrophic 91% fail roughly a week into playing. i had just short of 12k attempts when it happened, and it sent me on a downward spiral in the following couple of weeks - what was once a decently enjoyable time turned into an incredibly mentally demanding slog of a playing experience, it genuinely drove me mad trying to get even remotely consistent at some of the parts.
thankfully, this is quite the good looker of a level! at least, until the very end - its understandable once you know the context of why the level is in its current state, but its something i always kept in mind when thinking about the deco. i think it had the potential to be the best level in the interface trilogy if it became something more fleshed out. the song is a personal favourite of mine as well, the soundscaping gives it a very different atmosphere to its fellow interface trilogy levels.
as for whether i'd recommend this? as a new hardest, absolutely not. if you're already a better player when you get to this? go for it.
overall, sigma interface initially seemed to be a fun experience with actually interesting gameplay to push my skill, unfortunately held back by bad transitions and unfair choke points.
