Instead of riding the platform and using a damage boost off the spike to setup the ceiling grapple, I now hit the pixel cleanly with the spike skip grapple. This requires that my pacing is far enough ahead of average (need at least a 1 second lead), and requires some really stupid aim with the grapple.

This strat saves 2 seconds if executed as seen here. A clean spike skip, but no ceiling grab, will save around 1.2 seconds.
