New MOBA/RTS hybrid-SuperNova!
6Hi all! Today we're taking a look at a fusion game called SuperNova. It blends elements of an RTS into the MOBA core and makes an interesting game out of it.
As we all know, RTS games and MOBA games can be all about the micro. In a lot of mobas, the micro game is all about setting up equipment and gear as per your play style or w/e build guide you read. As I'm not a moba player by trade, I only know a little about this. HOTS came a long and basically made mobas WAY more accessible. Aside from doing a bit of DC's Infinite Crisis, HOTS became the only moba I have touched and likely the only moba I will ever touch (I did like watching DOTA 2 matches). SuperNova comes a long and essentially injects rts elements into a moba.
Each match starts off with people picking a commander. Each commander is either a tank, DPS or support and then it is further broken down into brawler, caster, nuker, etc. Instead of picking stat enhancing gear, you basically pick abilities and masteries similar to an RPG. You can upgrade and pick abilities out in the field but you must go back to your base to do your stats and masteries. The rts elements come into play by picking what kind of units you want as your creep and also building some structures that enable certain creep types (like a hangar for aerial units).
