There have been many Soulslike games over the years since the inception of the sub-genre in 2009 with the release of Demon's Souls. What keeps the sub-genre fresh with each new game is the tendency to push the gaming experience to the next level with new gaming mechanics and original content. Pushing the envelope is exactly expected with the upcoming indie title from South Korea's Round 8 Studios, Lies of P.
Lies of P is a dark re-telling of the folktale Pinocchio in the fictional city of Krat. The winding cobblestone streets are littered with bodies and crawling with murderous automatons and rats. A heavy fog obscures a great deal of the city streets under the moonlight. It seems that some plague has swept through the large city, suggesting a somewhat Dishonored-like prelude to the main story. All Soulslike elements are present in the gameplay trailer for Lies of P, but there is one new element the developers have promised that isn't in the trailer.
