The Rangers continue the Homestand against the Kansas City Royals. While the two may not have a textbook rivalry like the Red Sox-Yankees, the Royals have the edge over the Rangers in head-to-head regular season and Postseason games. However, the two have produced records and memorable moments when they have met.

On Wednesday, May 17, 1972, the Royals and the Rangers game at Municipal Stadium lasted for 4 hours and 56 minutes. This would be the first of their two longest games ever played. What was interesting about this game was that till the top of the 18th inning, the two teams were tied at 3-3, till Joe Lovitto scored and the Rangers won 4-3. The second longest game between the Royals and the Rangers was played on June 6, 1991, at the Royals Stadium. The game went on for 6 hours and 28 minutes. Interestingly, the two were once again tied at 3-3 in the 18th inning when Kevin Seitzer scored for the Royals ending the game at 4-3.
