NFS: Hot Pursuit - Racer RX-8 Only Run (Sort Of)
13I went into this thinking that every event would be fairly easy to do, which (to be fair) was mostly the case. However, you start to run into problems with events that take place on the motorway, as the AI speeds up significantly when reaching that part of the map, or just long straights in general. Due to the RX-8's low top speed, events like that become a recipe for disaster. Luckily the only two events that are like this are Born in the USA and Glorious Fourth. It would've been nice to be able to finish every event in the RX-8, but hey, you can't have everything in life. In order to progress, I had two use faster cars that are *just about* able to finish these events. After some testing, I settled on using the Dodge Challenger for Born in the USA (the irony) and the Audi TT RS for Glorious Fourth. I did attempt to do Glorious Fourth with the Challenger, however, it ended up being too slow to finish in the top 3 - so, I went with the TT RS instead. While experimenting with getting past Born in the USA, I had also completed Tough Torque and Passione Italia in an attempt to unlock the next set of events after Born in the USA, however, it doesn't work like that - you HAVE TO finish Born in the USA to unlock the next set of exotic events. So, after Double Jeopardy, you'll notice that I've levelled up slightly more than I should've and that the RX-8 has more KM on it as I removed the footage from both Tough Torque and Passione Italia in the final edit.
Done in two segments:
1. First day: playing until I got stuck, but I was originally hoping to finish the whole challenge on that one day.
2. Second day: finishing the rest of the run + editing the run into a single video.
The only glitch used in the entire run was the Seacrest Tour skip. If I didn't do it, the event would be impossible to finish with the RX-8, but every other event was done glitchless (for an extra challenge and so people don't get mad at me). I forgot to mention on the first voiceover that glitches AND exploits are allowed - the only exploit I had used in the finished run was during Avalanche; abusing cutscene invulnerability to cleanly go over a set of spikes (59:11).
The save file used for this is my regular NG+ save used for speedruns. However, Racer isn't fully levelled up (as of now), but that doesn't necessarily matter. I could've potentially made a new save and only did enough in multiplayer in order to unlock the RX-8. Sadly that idea never crossed my mind in time. But yes, it probably wouldn't have been much harder to complete this with level 1 equipment, the only annoyance would be the unlock cutscenes for both cars and equipment that would come with a nearly new save file.
All of the event restarts (that only happen in the second segment) have been taken out for your viewing pleasure.
