Ninja Fight / Testing Shotcut Video Codecs 4k - Minor Visual Spoilers - Nioh 2
Sir Render -
Okay so long time no see
I ran into some issues so I've been away for... awhile
Short version my computer went boom so I had to get a new one
I had to get a new editing software but I've managed to recover most of my things... except my Genshin Impact password XD
A good friend gifted me Nioh 2 to Celebrate
Anyway I've run into a few issues particularly when it comes to codecing
either the fps is too jittery or there is artifecting all over the place so I've been doing a lot of Trial and Error
I think I finally got it though well good enough for now
If anyone has advice to make this even cleaner I'd greatly appreciate it
Anyway the reason I'm publishing this video is to share the info I've learned so far incase someone else who wants to make videos may stumble upon this and it maybe helps them
also myself cause I have the memory of a goldfish and I do not want to trial and error my way this far again XD
Alright to start I'm using Shotcut I don't know if different editing software encodes differently but it might be worth mentioning
The original video is a 4k 60fps recording using Nvidia graphics card
With a 71189kbps Bit rate total length of 50 mins and 57 seconds ...this fight took me a few tries XD
To Start I'm choosing the Lossless tab preset
Highlighting H.264 then going into the advanced settings
Also making sure that the Format is in mp4
Video Resolution is set to 3840x2160
16 by 9 aspect ratio
70frames per second I had to go with 70fps because 60 would drop frames for some reason making things weirdly jittery at times
Scan mode Progressive
1Deinterlacer and 2Interpolation set to their best settings
1 YADIF Temporal Spaceial
2 Hyper Lanczos
Preview scaling and Parallel processing off
Switch from the Video to the Codec Tab
Change the Codec to libx265
Switch the Bitrate to Constant bitrate
as for the bitrate itself make it slightly more than the original videos
You can check what it is by viewing the properties of the original via right clicking it
Buffer Size just 9999.00 it I've been messing with it for awhile and that just got the highest quality I can find as of yet
GOP Frames I went with 600 non fixed
more seemed to make it frame strangely less seemed to make it skip frames
B Frames 0
Codec threads 12
Don't check dual pass or...disable video for erm obvious reasons
You can leave Audio and other Tabs default
I also checked Hardware encoding checking both Nvenc settings inside
I've heard and experienced that occasionally Hardware encoding will just leave your video as a white screen with Audio I honestly don't know what causes that but it seemed to work with the settings listed here just fine
If you're like me and you have no idea what I just said
Just try to copy things as I mentioned them I tried to make sure everything is meticulously explained
If I somehow missed something or you are having issues with Hardware encoding
Please mention so in the comments I'll try to do what I can
But I'm really not computer smart and all of what I've learned so far is a mix of online searches and Trial and Error still maybe I've errored my way into your trial at some point or something like that and I'll have a way out
I also have setting for non hardware encoding but they aren't quite as clean looking
they are mostly the same though
If people ask for a Visual Aid I'll also make a video for that
The point of this video is to test how youtube handles my video encoding and to, if it's decent share what I did
Also if you know how to obtain even higher quality codecing with Shotcut
Please share with me what you know
I'm doing my best to make my videos the best they can be
Unfortunately when it comes to the technical side of things I'm all monkeys and type writers
I'd severely appreciate any help I can get
If you could I'd appreciate it if you'd Comment Like and/or Subscribe every little bit helps and I'm pretty active in the Comments myself so if you got any questions I'll do my best to answer them likewise if you just wanna comment about anything
