252Please read this: This is not a speedrun, but rather a playthrough, where I only play the game through.
HARDEST NINJA GAIDEN EVER.
Ryu's hitbox is much smaller and wonkier than what his sprite might tell. Your invincibility timer is very short, so if you get trapped inside something like a boss sprite, you're pretty much fucked if you don't get outta there quick. You see me almost dying in the first boss because I screwed up the timing.
The hitbox on your sword is pretty curious too, though surprisingly effective. Since Ryu does this "lunge" whenever you swing your sword, it requires you to get used to that attack before you can fully utilise it, if you swing when the enemy is right in your face when standing, you might hit behind him, leaving him unharmed. The hitbox also reaches above your head a little, which is perfect for making the final boss your bitch.
I imagined Ryu having a stereotypical Japanese accent, but that image clashes with the fact that he does a flawless boat captain impression in one of the cutscenes -- one that completely fools the guy on the radio.
I hate how down + attack is using the subweapon instead of up + attack.
PROTIP: Haul ass in the final stage or you WILL run out of time at the last boss, you should try to start the final boss with at least 130 seconds on the clock.
I originally meant this to be in parts, one part per level, but I ended up shooting a hole in one. So I figured, what the hell, I'll upload the whole thing as is.
