Ninpen Manmaru (Sega Saturn) - Playthrough
1Based off a popular kids manga and anime, Ninpen Manmaru (Manmaru the Ninja Penguin) for the Sega Saturn is a 3D Platformer with some odd control quirks. Not only is it tank control ala Croc, you have no strafe and turning with the d-pad makes you run forward. Using the shoulder buttons allow you to turn without moving and combining the two methods of turning allows you to take smaller quicker though inconsistent turns.
While looking like its a game for small children and starting out rather simple, Ninpen Manmaru hides some of the trickiest and sicko jumps I've seen in a platformer of this vintage. Manmaru also has no way to attack enemies (that I could find, supposedly he can pick up objects and toss em but...) and his slow movement plus large turns can make the simplest enemies into some of the most annoying obstacles. It's still a pretty fun game, just be ready for that challenge to spike up rather quickly.
