Here we have a title I've wanted to tackle for a while. This is Karateka, from Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner. This is his first commercial game and it also happens to be the first game that used rotoscoping for the sprite work. Unlike Mechner's more famous title, Prince of Persia, Karateka is not a platformer and has more in common with belt scroller beat em ups like Irem's Kung Fu.

You play as a Karateka who has to storm an evil warlord's castle in order to save a woman. Along the way the warlord will send his guards in which you will have to dispatch using your martial art skills. Karateka is often celebrated for its cinematic flair, especially for a game of its vintage.
