Nintendo Entertainment System - Nintendo Switch Online Part 10: Mario Bros.
Here is a classic arcade game that has been around since 1983, it is Mario Bros., where you control Mario as he clears up the pipes of turtles and crabs. You cannot jump on the turtles, even though you might think of them as Koopa Troopas, but they are really called Shellcreppers, and the crabs are called Sidesteppers. Later levels have the Fighter Flies as enemies, which are a bit harder to deal with.
This game was the first appearance of Mario's brother, Luigi, who was playable in multiplayer. Even though Mario is very well known, there is some interesting trivia about him, this is the first game Mario's name is ever used, because he was originally called Jumpman, and he was named after Mario Segale, and Luigi's name is believed to be named after an Italian restaurant named "Mario & Luigi's", and the Mario Bros. last name is believed to be Mario, like in the Super Mario Bros. Movie, where their names are "Mario Mario" and "Luigi Mario".
Another thing about Mario Bros. is that it was a stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and it will be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which brings back a lot of old stages, and the platform that Mario stands on after he gets hit by an enemy is likely the origin of the revival platform in the Super Smash Bros. series. An enemy called the Slipice, which first appeared as an item called the Freezie in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and they also appeared in a few Mario spin-off games, like the Mario Party series and a few others.
Speaking of Mario Segale, a few days after this video was uploaded, he died on October 27th 2018 at his home at Tukwila, Washington at the age of 84.
