Sony Remote play vs WiiU rant....
What I do find amusing about WiiU is the Gamepad only gameplay option, I use it regularly when sitting in our lounge and the television is in use for other things - its a great display option to have.
PS4 / Vita are trying to do the same as the WiiU - which like I say 'amuses' me no end because when WiiU was released many 'gamers' derided the size of the WiiU gamepad and its 'gimmicky' game screen gameplay, after all who would want to stream gameplay from their FullHD console to their handheld controller's tiny little screen ;-)...
I suppose the only 'addition' to the streaming controller idea that PS4/Vita Remote play brings (that WiiU doesn't feature) is the option of playing the main console via. the controller/Vita away from home over an internet connection. Yes, unfortunately you cant do that with the stand alone WiiU gamepad. Although I hear the using a Vita for PS4 remote play causes slow screen update and image quality issues along with some noticable controller lag.... so a big 'nah-nah' to them :-)
What was shocking to me is that 'remote play' was originally designed for PSP & PS3 - and that version is limited to viewing musicplayer/video(file format not dvd/bluray) internet browsing and only an handful of PS3 games play via the PSP eg. Lair , which I still own. Add in the non-internet 'wireless' comms distance between was/is really short and the system controls lag badly unless settings set to receive lowest quality image :(
