Ninth world - a skill building game
The fantastic setting of Numenera is set a billion years in the future, originally the setting was for the RPG by Monte Cook Games but it also got used for a computer game (Torment) and as a card game (Thunderstone). Lone Shark games went to kickstarter for what looked like an interesting world exploration card game. After a long wait this interesting sounding game arrives, I unbox it and do battle with the box and rules.
Lonesharks blurb for the game
"One part deckbuilder, one part Eurogame, and one part RPG, The Ninth World is something Lone Shark Games and Monte Cook Games will bring to your table. Our game is set a billion years in the future in the Numenera universe, where heroes explore the nine kingdoms of The Steadfast, each a very different place to adventure. They discover strange relics of the past, trying to discern which are powerful cyphers and which are just weird oddities. And they fight creatures of all shapes, sizes, and limb arrangements. Outside of the Steadfast is The Beyond, a wild and remote realm. And there are even places beyond The Beyond, awaiting your discovery. A skillbuilding game for 1 to 5 players, The Ninth World lets players manage a handful of skills to become wildly different adventurers. Step into the future with us."
SPOILER
I hate the box and the rules included in the box are awful. I recommend downloading the online rules once they get a v2.
