Nioh - Dragon of the North Part 1: Yokai Country

Did you guys miss this? Well guess what! It’s back! Nioh is back with the first DLC, Dragon of the North. Our journey is taking us to the Oshu Region up north where we’ll be crossing paths with The One-Eyed Dragon, Date Masamune. It consists of two main missions and 3 sub missions. Also this is where the game gets harder and if you notice any changes during editing, I had to train since I got my butt handed to me.
We start with Yokai Country and this map introduces us to some new enemies such as the Namahage, Rokurokubi and Red Kappa. Red Kappas are annoying since they launch balls that can cause paralysis. Made worse are the bigger variants that lob four. Watch yourself because you will get your butt kicked… BAD. We also get our hands on a new weapon, the Odachi. A two-handed sword that packs a punch.
Once you reach the end after having to deal with the new foes, you take on Date Shigezane. He is hard as hell with fast movement, fast attacks and strong resistance to earth, poison and paralysis. It’s weak to wind so if you got weapons with that element, it’ll work. Using onmyo magic that can reduce attack, defense or slow down help. Just keep your distance.
If you also want to know, I died a lot on that boss… about 40 or so times to the point where I rage quitted, took a break and decided instead to grind so I can get stronger. The results pay off but will it be enough? Who knows. Beating Date Shigezane nets you a new guardian spirit, a Centipede.
We’ll be doing some sub missions in Part 2. Sadly I need to keep on training so I can be strong enough. Off to Way of the Strong for me.
