If you are as old as Mike (StingerNLG) is, you definitely remember the good old text adventures of yesteryear; games like NetHack and Temple of Apshai. Well, one developer wanted to bring the old ASCII adventures to life in the modern age. So welcome to Brut@l, a 3D adaptation of the old ASCII games designed to dungeon-crawl you through level after procedurally designed level of danger, monsters, and treasures. Each part of the game is constructed from ASCII letters and characters, and adds a hint of RPG elements like leveling up and inventory management, as well as weapon and potion crafting. All wrapped up in a pleasant 60fps 3D bow.
Now today, Mike is checking out the Dungeon Creator. In this hourlong vid, he creates and tests a basic dungeon design and then goes online to find and try out a couple of other player's dungeons to see how they are.
