Yes, yes, I'm going to barrage you with a bizarre feed of extra visual information and such, JUST because I hate myself and/or possibly you, the viewer... or even the non-viewer who just wants an easily-navigated subscription feed. Who's to say?!
I do personally believe there's a certain purity within (seemingly) simplistic games, especially dungeon crawlers and the like, wherein the action is meant to speak for itself, and anything besides is merely a distraction.
There's something to be said for a quiet time foraging around in a distinctly hostile locale with naught but your wits and your skills to keep you safe.
... ... ...we're going to conveniently ignore the fact that there was a voice with an Internet connection in my ear the whole time.
... ... ...we don't have to conveniently ignore the fact that there's someone else playing alongside as well, because there's only one player in here right now! Nyah~!

Not only will people not TALK to some dweeby cultist kid, a couple will completely disappear or otherwise barricade up their bizarre little hidey hole and refuse to teach you the basics!
Or maybe there was just too much one-off unique character control, interaction, and alteration to the general gameflow, and trying to cram a second person in there just created too many opportunities to break things!
...you know, things OTHER than the stuff you're SUPPOSED to break!
There's also a hidden room in this tutorial dungeon, which I personally never fully figured out how they worked until much later in my gungeoneering career. Some even say that I never really did, I'm just pretending to know. (But those people are rude and presumptuous, no matter what the actual truth of the matter!)
