Nuclear Option 0.30.92: Scythe vs Scimitar - Range Tests
Nuclear Option 0.30.9 introduced the AAM-36 Scimitar, a long-range radar-guided air-to-air missile that operates similarly to the AAM-29 Scythe.
However, where the Scythe has a powerful booster that propels it to initial high speeds before the missile is left to glide to the target with its remaining energy, the Scimitar has low acceleration in comparison but operates under powered flight for up to a minute after launch.
I should also note that the AAM-36 Scimitar costs $2.1m per unit compared to $890k for one AAM-29 Scythe.
This video tests both missiles from various ranges, starting at 10 km and ending at 50 km.
