~~~My thoughts~~~
Overall, The Shrouded Isle is pretty simple and once you have a hang of what you are trying to do things fall into place pretty quickly. The replayability hinges entirely on randomness - every time you play the virtues and vices of any given villager are randomized, and there are a random number of "Major Sinners". After playing through the game twice I had a good enough grasp that I feel with some decent luck I can make it to the end without too much hassle. If you are looking for deep and complex gameplay for your $10, you might be able to find something a bit more interesting. Will it entertain you more than going to see a movie for less money for slightly longer? That depends on what kind of gamer you are.
That said, I really enjoyed my time with this game. It's a bit shallow, but striving to figure out how all of the mechanics present takes a bit of thinking through. Towards the end I was planning full seasons in advance rather than one month at a time so that I would know which families would be plotting my murder, which would do anything for me, and who I would be able to sacrifice to He Who Waits without losing any meaningful control over my island.
The atmosphere from the visual and sound design manage to lift this game beyond a simple "resource balancing" game to something that has a bit more feeling to it. At no point did I drop the nomenclature of "families" and "tenants" in favor of "groups" and "resources". The Eldritch theming does something for me that I imagine wouldn't be as satisfying for other gamers.
Did I enjoy myself? Definitely. Would I recommend this to others? Probably not unless it was on sale. It's something I would certainly bring up without urging a friend to play. Grab if it is on sale, and if you have a friend who already it is worth playing through just for the thrills.

If you’ve earned the favor of their House, you may investigate their reputation. Otherwise, you may appoint them to your seasonal council and watch their work for clues.
Five powerful aristocratic families help maintain the village, seeking salvation through book burning, monument building, and heretical investigations. Choose one advisor from each family to assist in their ancient appointed task. However, every season, you must make the ultimate choice, designating a human sacrifice.
Closely examine your citizenry to find the best strategy for your people and beliefs, knowing that nobody wants their child sacrificed, even for the greater good.
