OBS Tutorial: What x264 does for Twitch Streams
We've all asked this question before: What the heck is x264?! Well in this video I break down what x264 is, what it does, why it matters and what kind of processor you'll need to really take advantage of this encoder. I aim to help as many streamers as possible with this, because trust me, I've asked the same question before. In the easiest terms possible, x264 encodes your video feed into a readable video format, transfers that feed to another server, and decodes it so viewers can see it played back live. x264 is the most common, and stable, form of encoding on any streaming platform. However, it does need a decent processor to handle a lower preset, which we talk about in the video.
