From October 18 to 29, 195 French airmen took part in the major combined exercise "Ocean Sky" organized by the Ejercito del Aire, at Gando air base.
The French and Spanish forces train jointly in the air as part of an operational preparation, simulating various scenarios. “Ocean Sky” is a symbol of bilateral relations: “We never fight alone. The inter-allied link is necessary for effective training ”, assures Lieutenant-Colonel Guillaume, director of the exercise for the French detachment.
On the French side, an Awacs operating from France, a C-135 tanker and thirteen Rafale are participating in the exercise alongside Spanish aircraft, including F-18s, Eurofighter Typhoon, Harrier and an A400M.
