Octopath Speedrunner demonstrates: How to beat Omniscient Eye (Galdera Phase 1)
0This is obviously NOT how the fight is supposed to go. I probably should have Defended with Ophilia on turn one, then have her heal up the party on the following turn, then go with the "backup" strat for rest of the fight.
But instead, I failed to realize I got a bad turn order until it was too late and started the fight normally. Realized too late that I fucked up and tried to somehow recover. The fight turned into a struggle to stay alive, while simultaneously trying to take down the Eye, even with the adds spawning. As a nice surprise, I learned that the fight does not end until all the adds are dead as well. So we had to keep struggling through that as well.
Tressa got magic blocked when I needed her to use magic to take down the adds, which made the fight much harder as she was locked out of using Sorc spells. Finally killed the last add with a lone standing Tressa using Veterans. By that point I had already forgotten how much damage we did with Sorc spells earlier in the fight, so I decided to play it safe with Vets.
Did some quick calculations, and turns out Screaming Soul only had around 1400 HP on the final turn, so even a Soulstone L would have killed.
In hindsight, I definitely should have started over after realizing I messed up. It would have been much faster to go through the gauntlet again (~18 minutes for this run), than struggle to beat the first phase for over 30 minutes.
At least it made for good content, I guess.
