Octopath Traveler | Desktop | Olberic's First 1 Hour Gameplay

As the title suggest, there are 8 paths, the game puts players in the role of one of eight adventurers, each of whom begins their journey in different ways. Each character has their own path actions, that can be used to interact with NPCs. I really like the graphics design of a mix of 2D Sprites in a polygonal 3D world which they call 'HD-2D' aesthetic.
The battle system is a deep turn-based combat where the player breaks enemy lines as they unravels the enemy's weaknesses.
As to the classes available these are limited to just 8 total. Each character begins as one of these but as you explore the world, you will encounter areas to unlock the classes. In doing so you can multi-class to build a variety of combinations and set ups for your party. I was kind of disappointed in this and expected some more options but eh oh well. It wasn't a deal breaker.
In all Octopath Travel is again a game that recalls the old style of JRPGs. You get to play a character with deep background story in this wondrous yet dangerous world.
Pros:
- Artistic designing style with very very good background music
- Combats are very fun and engaging
- Each character has a unique skill that can be used to interact with environment, which make exploring the world much more interesting
- Old-school turn-based combat system without Active Time Battle
- Many optional areas with very challenging bosses to test your builds
- Vast world with many hours of game play and lots of side quests
Cons:
- Side quest system is very poorly designed with minimal clues provided (you probably need to search Google for solutions)
- The game requires lots and lots of grinding [going straight to the boss is suicide.] (may not be a downside if you expect it from an older style JRPG.)
