Oculus Touch Controllers - Hands On Review
Oculus' intuitive Touch controllers finally allow Rift owners a more immersive VR experience. Is that enough to narrow the lead enjoyed by HTC’s Vive?
The Oculus Touch Controllers are themselves very well designed. They're lightweight, have buttons and D-pads similar to traditional gaming controllers, and also feature a gesture sensing system. When playing a VR game that supports Oculus Touch, the buttons can sense finger position and determine what their hands are doing in the game controller.
The Oculus Touch controllers promise a seamless experience. Unfortunately it has some catching up to do. The HTC Vive is the VR benchmark, and adding the $200 Touch Controllers to the $600 Rift headset still doesn't provide a large room VR experience like Vive. Oculus recommends large room-scale setups use a third sensor, which is another $80.
