OddPlanet is a 2d platformer. It’s inspired by Limbo and Oddworld games. You play as a girl who has crash landed on an alien planet. Just like Limbo you only see a black silhouette of the girl character and only her eyes are visible. The whole theme however is not all black/white/grey like Limbo. You can see yellow color of what appears to be the sun in the background, and other colored creatures like a bee etc.

Graphics:

The graphics are similar to Limbo but not exactly, this game has color instead of all black and white. It’s very atmospheric and you get that same feeling of loneliness you got from Limbo, except it’s even creepier as you’re on another planet with aliens lurking about. There is no option for adjusting resolution and for me the game started in 720p, this could be a problem. I was getting 50-60 FPS the whole time I played.

Sound:

Just like the graphics are, sounds are incredibly atmospheric as well. The slow music, the creepy wind and crows in the background really gives the chills.

Gameplay:

Gameplay is very similar to Limbo, the movement, the jumping is very similar to how Limbo handles. Not that it’s a bad thing, in my opinion Limbo had really good gameplay. You can run around, jump, climb ledges etc. You have to solve puzzles and sneak around. You are always hiding from enemies in this game. Pressing space makes you interact with the objects or you can walk on toes also by pressing space key. This sneaky walk on toes is required to avoid enemies hearing you. It is a sort of survival game where basically everything is trying to kill you but it’s linear so you must keep progressing through episodes.

Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 7/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Overall: 7/10

Conclusion:

Fun little game which is heavily inspired from Limbo. I quite enjoyed it. There are a few bugs and problems but nothing too major. There is also no option to select resolution and bind keys. Other than these the game is fun to play and will remind you of Limbo a lot.
